SUMMARY:National Park Service Spring Nature Fling Event
DESCRIPTION:Spring is here and so is a celebration of ecology throughout Southern West Virginia\, Spring Nature Fling. This annual event runs from mid-March through May and highlights the wonders of nature in central Appalachia. Join free guided hikes and talks with rangers and naturalists\, try your hand at nature-inspired art\, attend nature workshops\, learn about regional plants through art created by local youth and adult artists\, and more. Event programs\, workshops\, and exhibits will take place at New River Gorge National Park and Preserve\, Tamarack Marketplace\, Beckley Art Center\, Love Hope Gallery\, Active Southern West Virginia\, Three Rivers Avian Center\, Beckley\, Fayetteville\, Hinton\, Oak Hill\, and the West Virginia State Parks of Babcock\, Bluestone\, Carnifex Ferry Battlefield\, Hawks Nest\, Little Beaver\, Pipestem Resort\, and Twin Falls Resort. \n  \nThis event schedule is available at www.nps.gov/neri/planyourvisit/spring-nature-fling.htm . Be sure to check for updates to this event calendar\, as additional programs may be added to this listing. All guided hikes and exhibits are free\, while some workshops may have a fee. Some activities do require reservations. \n  \nParticipants should bring water and wear sturdy walking shoes for hikes. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Tools like binoculars\, a hand lens\, camera\, field guides\, and smart devices pre-loaded with nature apps are suggested but not required. SUMMARY:Yoga for Radiant Aging
DESCRIPTION:Yoga For Radiant Aging: Merging Modern Science with Ancient Yogic Practices.\nLearn how to practice yoga as we age with radiance\, vibrancy\, & health. Around the age of 35 we begin to slowly lose bone density\, muscle mass\, co-ordination\, brain function\, and lung volume. There is a wealth of new scientific research that demonstrates how yoga is uniquely suited to slow and even reverse this process. For instance\, Dr. Loren Fishman has published research on how yoga can increase bone density. The research show that certain practices can make you functionally younger. The earlier you begin these practices the more reserve you will have as you age. The good news\, which research supports\, is that it is never too late to begin to “buy back functional years” using these practices (Attia\, 2023).\nFor students and teachers of all ages. Format is lecture with slide show\, 60 minute asana\, yoga nidra\, & savasana. Asana will include modifications for all levels. Ending with discussion and Q&A.\n12 CEUs through Yoga Alliance. Teachers may count these 12 hours towards the upcoming 25 hour Yoga For Radiant Aging Certification. Details coming soon.\nCost of the Full workshop | $250 before April 5th | $290 after April 5th. Individual classes are also available.\nOpossum Creek Retreat | located within minutes of the New River Gorge National Park and the resort adventure town of Fayetteville\, WV. There are three private bedrooms within the main lodge\, the Meadows. These bedroom are on a first come\, first serve basis for $150 plus tax for the duration of the event. A full kitchen is also available for personal use besides the yoga room.
