No matter if you like speed, heights, action or relaxin’ we’ve got fun outdoor gatherings for everyone:
New River Bike Festival
July 10-12
Improve your biking skills and knowledge at the New River Bike Festival at ACE Adventure Resort. This fun festival features bikes, shuttles, clinics and workshops and more than 35 miles of trails. You’ll have plenty of terrain to ride on.
Explore Life around the River
July 7 – July 12
Join Park rangers for the Discover Life in the Water of Parks week-long series. You’ll splash in the water and stomp through the forests discovering insects and life in and around the river. With different events every day, you’ll learn about natural and cultural history, river insects and more.
Homoclimbtastic
July 15th -19th
Homoclimbtastic is the world’s largest queer-friendly climbing convention, taking to the rocks every year in Fayetteville. This fun event features clinics, workshops and instruction for aspiring climbers.
Highland Ordnance Paintball Tournament
July 18
In this game of skill with both amateur and expert level entrants, plus cash prizes, 3- or 5-man teams can contend in different games, including capture the flag and speedball elimination. Teams with the most points square off in the finals for the overall championships.

Explore Railroad History
July 18, 8:30 a.m.- 3 p.m.
Explore the town of Thurmond and learn about the history of transportation and the railroad at Thurmond’s Railroad Day at the Historic Thurmond Depot.
