Here’s a look at some of the magical shows coming up this year:

Cinderella’s Glass Slipper

Audiences of all ages will enjoy “Cinderella’s Glass Slipper,” a musical based on the well-known fairytale. In this adaptation, however, new characters provide a fresh spin on the classic. You’ll meet a brave mouse, a hesitant cat and a pumpkinhead that turns into a coach.
“Cinderella’s Glass Slipper” is March 4, 5, 11, 12, 18 and 19 at 8 p.m., and March 13 and 20 at 2 p.m.

The Lady and the Empress

Marvel as one of West Virginia’s own takes the stage. Lady D is a singer, songwriter, actress, director and playwright. She’ll own the stage as a one-woman show, based on the life of blues legend Bessie Smith.
Fun fact: Lady D’s song, “It’s a Charleston Thing” has won the FestivALL competition for the best song about Charleston.
Lady D hits the stage as The Lady and the Empress April 15 at 7 p.m.

The Secret Garden

Another classic dusted off for today’s stages. “The Secret Garden” tells the story of a difficult child sent to live at her uncle’s estate in England after her parents pass away. Her new home turns out to be pretty gloomy… until she discovers a strange walled garden on the grounds that has been locked for years.
“The Secret Garden” will be May 6, 7, 13 and 14 at 8 p.m., and May 8 and 15 at 2 p.m.

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow

This spooky spectacle hits the stage just in time for Halloween. For one night only, get chills as you witness this classic tale about a headless figure haunting the woods on horseback. Historians believe the ghost plagues the night in search of his head.
“The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” will be Oct. 29 at 8 p.m.

It’s a Wonderful Life

Watch the musical adaptation of a classic film unfold on stage. This holiday tale follows the life of George Bailey, a typical guy from a small town who longs to escape and live a life without attachments. On Christmas Eve, his guardian angel pays him a visit and reminds him that he has, indeed, a very wonderful life.
“It’s a Wonderful Life” performances are Nov. 25, 26 and 27, and Dec. 2, 3 and 4.
These are just some of the great shows coming up at the Historic Fayette Theater. To see what else is in the works, check out the full 2016 schedule.
