Best of Fall Events in the New River Gorge
September 29, 2015Fall is one of the best times of the year to visit the New River Gorge— it’s vibrant with the changing colors of fall, the cooler temperatures make recreation enjoyable and there are fun events going on all the time.
From bluegrass to Bridge Day to Zombie runs, film fests and great theater, we’ve got entertainment for everyone.

Bridge Day
Oct. 17 from 9 a.m.- 3 p.m., New River Gorge Bridge
Join us for the world’s largest extreme sports festival of its kind, with BASE jumpers leaping 876 feet off the New River Gorge Bridge. Rappellers, skydivers and other high-flying stunt teams will be demoing their sports, too. Plus, you can browse the craft and food vendors. Sample all the mountain flavor at Taste of Bridge Day the evening before!
Bridge Day Jam
Oct. 17, Cascade Festival Grounds
The jam includes a stellar lineup of bluegrass musicians including Sam Bush, Jerry Douglas and the Earls of Leicester, The Rarely Herd, and Common Houses. They’ll also be serving food from our best local eateries and pouring Bridge Brew Works beer.

Video Boater’s Challenge
Oct. 7 at 7 p.m., Historic Fayette Theater
All season, video boaters have been filming the antics of people rafting on the New and Gauley Rivers, and the Video Boater’s Challenge lets them showcase their best work! This is a must-see for whitewater lovers.
Nightmare on the Gorge Haunted Trail
Oct. 23, 24, 30, 31, ACE Adventure Resort
Join some spooky, healthy outdoor fun at ACE Adventure Resort. You can brave the haunted trail or fly through the woods on the zip line. And for the truly brave, you won’t want to miss the Nightmare on the Gorge Zombie 5K Run on Oct. 31.
Haunting Julia
Sept. 25-27 & Oct. 2-4, Fayette Historic Theater
