2025 Highball to Thurmond 50 Mile, 50K & 50 Mile Relay

Race through New River Gorge National Park and beat the train to the finish line at Highball to Thurmond Ultra & Relay! 50 Mile, 50K, and 50 Mile Relay participants have the unique option to experience a scenic train ride from the finish in Thurmond, WV back to the 50 Mile starting line in Montgomery, WV. You just have to beat the final highball! With a population of 5 at the 2010 census, Thurmond is the least populated railroad town in the nation and part of the New River Gorge National Park.
