SUMMARY:Ugly Sweater Fun Run/Walk
DESCRIPTION:The Ugly Sweater Fun Run/Walk is a family friendly way to get active enjoying the Winter Wonderland light display at Fayette County Park.This is not a race! You can go at your own pace and make as many running or walking laps around the light display as you like (5 laps equals a 5K distance). This is stroller friendly and ages 12 and under get in free. No pets allowed\, except service animals.This is a fundraiser for Active SWV and the Fayette County Park. The event is $10 per person (cash or check)\, but ages 12 and under are free. No reservations needed.Wear your ugly sweaters and Deck your strollers (or sleighs)! Get in character and secret judges will be checking out all the outfits and strollers. Awards will be presented and the opportunity for photos.This is how the event will be set up:– Arrive at the park gate between 4:30pm-4:50pm and wait in your cars to enter the park. The park attendant will collect the $10 per person as you pass by the gate and pass out gift packages. Ages 12 and Under are free. The gate will be closed from 5pm-6pm.– Parking is available by the canteen and the pool area.– Check in at the Dining Hall and be sure to let us know if you are participating in the Ugly Sweater contest (or if you’re regular attire could be confused as an ugly sweater). Watch for cars still coming into the park.– The Fun Run/Walk is set to start at 5:00pm. The gate will be closed from 5pm-6pm for the safety of the runners and walkers.– Have fun! Enjoy the lights and costumes. Flashlights and headlamps are encouraged. This is a great event for strollers!– Return to the dining hall at 5:40 for the Ugly Sweater runway and Deck the Stroller contests.– Do not move your cars until close to 6pm. If you finish early\, please wait until 6pm to move your car.– When the gate opens at 6pm\, the vehicles waiting to enter the light show will be let in first so there is room on the one lane road for cars to exit.Post your photos and follow this hashtag #activeswv for the Ugly Sweater and Deck the Stroller winners!

Hosted at Adventures on the Gorge\, racers will have access to resort amenities and finish at the rim-side pool with a catered brunch.The course will begin on the south side of the New River Gorge on Fayette Station Road – Route 82 and will follow Burma Road and Ames Heights Road. This is a point to point race. Racers will check in at the finish line and be provided a bus ride to the start line. Racers should prepare for a descent of 1\,300 feet and a climb of 1\,300 feet with the steepest point being a 20% incline. The finish line will bring racers to the rim of the gorge with an overlook photo opportunity. Racers are welcome to walk the course but must maintain a 20-minute mile pace to complete the event during the allotted closed road time frame.

DESCRIPTION:Join Community Captains from Get Activated for a free mat pilates. Participants will use yoga mats with all the instructions provided.\nPilates can be modified for almost all physical abilities. Our pilates class is beginner friendly and led by a certified\, local pilates instructor. Pilates can help you improve posture\, increase joint mobility and muscle activiation\, and potentially reduce joint and muscle pain with ongoing practice. Mats will be provided or bring your own. All you need is comfortable clothes that allow you freedom of movement\, and a water bottle.\nParticipants will be asked to sign an online waiver found here.

SUMMARY:New River Gorge Rim to Rim Race
DESCRIPTION:The New River Gorge Rim to Rim Race is a 6 mile running road race from one side of the New River Gorge to the other. This bucket list event will provide runners with breathtaking views throughout the course in Fayetteville\, the adventure sports capital of West Virginia. Hosted by Adventures on the Gorge\, racers will have access to resort amenities and finish at the rim-side pool with a catered brunch.\nRegistration opens Nov 28\, 2022 at 12pm through RunSignUp.\nThe course will begin on the south side of the New River Gorge on Fayette Station Road – Route 82 and will follow Burma Road and Ames Heights Road. This is a point to point race. Racers will check in at the finish line and be provided a bus ride to the start line. Racers should prepare for a descent of 1\,300 feet and a climb of 1\,300 feet with the steepest point being a 20% incline. The finish line will bring racers to the rim of the gorge with an overlook photo opportunity. Racers are welcome to walk the course but must maintain a 20-minute mile pace to complete the event during the allotted closed road time frame.

DESCRIPTION:Join Community Captain Lynn to walk the Narrow Gauge Trail in beautiful Babcock State Park. Walk will be approximately 5 miles.\nSee the best of the Southern West Virginia’s parks when you join one of our hikes. Hikes go at a leisurley pace\, and are led by Community Captains. Be sure to dress appropriately for the weather and wear sturdy closed toe shoes. You are welcome to bring walking sticks/hiking poles for assistance\, and are encouraged to bring your own water and sunscreen. The length of each hike may vary. Please contact us\, or find our Facebook event page for each hike for more details.\nAll hikes are perfect for grand-families\, groups with multiple interests\, and individuals. All are welcome! Youth are encouraged to attend but must be accompanied by a guardian and the adult must stay on site during the activity. Trained Community Captains deliver free\, beginner-level instructional programs to area parks. Active SWV empowers our community to see outdoor spaces as a place for health and wellness to take place.

SUMMARY:Fayetteville 5k Fun Run/Walk
DESCRIPTION:Click below to register on RunSignUp.com\nhttps://runsignup.com/…/Fayetteville/Fayetteville4th5K…\n\nJoin us Independence Day weekend for this fun run/walk hosted by the Fayetteville Bicycle Pedestrian Action Committee\, supported by the Town of Fayetteville\, Active SWV and Arrowhead Bike Farm. We will meet at the Fayetteville Town Park\, Shelter 3 near the dog park\, and follow the beginner friendly trails behind the park\, and the fitness loop. The course will be a mix of paved and dirt path. Pre-register online\, and receive a t-shirt on race day. Day-of registration will be available between 7:30am – 8:15am prior to the race start. T-shirts are not guaranteed for day-of registrants. The run/walk will begin at 8:30am. Please note\, while we will have a timer going at the start/finish\, you will NOT have a timer chip/bib. We hope you all get a new personal record\, but remember\, we are running/walking for fun this weekend! You will need to set a timer on your own device if you want to accurately track your time
