SUMMARY:National Park Service Spring Nature Fling Event
DESCRIPTION:Spring is here and so is a celebration of ecology throughout Southern West Virginia\, Spring Nature Fling. This annual event runs from mid-March through May and highlights the wonders of nature in central Appalachia. Join free guided hikes and talks with rangers and naturalists\, try your hand at nature-inspired art\, attend nature workshops\, learn about regional plants through art created by local youth and adult artists\, and more. Event programs\, workshops\, and exhibits will take place at New River Gorge National Park and Preserve\, Tamarack Marketplace\, Beckley Art Center\, Love Hope Gallery\, Active Southern West Virginia\, Three Rivers Avian Center\, Beckley\, Fayetteville\, Hinton\, Oak Hill\, and the West Virginia State Parks of Babcock\, Bluestone\, Carnifex Ferry Battlefield\, Hawks Nest\, Little Beaver\, Pipestem Resort\, and Twin Falls Resort. \n  \nThis event schedule is available at www.nps.gov/neri/planyourvisit/spring-nature-fling.htm . Be sure to check for updates to this event calendar\, as additional programs may be added to this listing. All guided hikes and exhibits are free\, while some workshops may have a fee. Some activities do require reservations. \n  \nParticipants should bring water and wear sturdy walking shoes for hikes. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Tools like binoculars\, a hand lens\, camera\, field guides\, and smart devices pre-loaded with nature apps are suggested but not required. Come on out to the new Freefolk Brewhouse and Tasting Room in Hico for a night of live painting\, music\, vendors and an auction. All artwork created during the event will be up for auction for 1 month after the event.\nThe purpose of this event is to support the arts & artists of the New River Gorge region. All proceeds will go towards Love Hope Center for the Arts and participating artists. The Showdown will feauture a multi-round competition\, with twelve West Virginia artists working in front of an audience to create their masterpiece. Attendees will vote to determine who advances from round to round. Each round will last 40 minutes.\nCome on out to watch fellow local artists and artists across the state in friendly competition while the audience cast their votes and cheer them on!\nLove Hope Center for the Arts is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that offers a variety of classes\, studio space and events as well as unique exhibit space in Fayetteville\, West Virginia.\nOur mission is to fuel artistic passion in West Virginia through community-driven art programs\, nurturing local talent\, and fostering connections that embody love\, hope\, and cultural richness in our vibrant Appalachian home
