Start 2016 with the 100 Mile Challenge Start-up Hike

January 2, 2016 - January 3, 2016

The New Year is here and a hike in a national park is a great way to start 2016!  Join in on the 100 Mile Challenge Start-up Hike on January 2 at Grandview, the first local kick-off event celebrating the 100thanniversary of the National Park Service. Meet the ranger at 10:30 am at the Grandview Visitor Center in the Grandview area of New River Gorge National River for this three-mile walk on the Grandview Rim Trail. See some of the best views of the New River Gorge on this easy to moderate hike. Bring water, wear hiking shoes, and dress appropriately for anticipated weather conditions.

This hike is a way to celebrate parks and health, plus add miles to your Challenge Log for those participating in the 100 Mile Challenge. The 100 Mile Challenge is open to everyone, though you don’t have to be a Challenge participant to take part in Saturday’s walk. All you need to do to meet the 2016 100 Mile Challenge is hike 100 miles on trails in New River Gorge National River or Bluestone National Scenic River January 1 – December 31, 2016.
