This Saturday marks the first pilot program to be hosted by the National Park Service at Camp Brookside in Brooks, West Virginia. Many will remember Camp Brookside as a summer camp for the children of employees of the Electrometallurgical Company’s plant in Alloy. As site restoration now nears completion, this place and the stories of those who attended Camp Brookside are now preserved for present and future generations. This Saturday’s program will feature Ed Haynes, commercial fishing guide. From 9:00am to 12:00 Noon, participants will learn knot tying, tackle selection and casting. Fly Fishing 101 is free with no experience or equipment needed. To sign up, contact Angela at 304-465-6508.
This fly fishing clinic is one of several programs in the park this week. All programs are FREE unless otherwise noted. Wear comfortable walking shoes for guided walks.
